Seattle Tacoma International

Hawaiian Airlines flights to Seattle from Hawaii and flights to Hawaii from Seattle are operated from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), more commonly known as Sea-Tac Airport. The busy facility is located between its two namesake cities in Washington’s Puget Sound region.

The layout consists of a main terminal with four concourses and two satellite terminals, all linked by an efficient underground train system. Arriving and departing Hawaiian Airlines flights operate from Concourse A. A food court, shops, bars, restaurants and wi-fi access is available in the concourse.

Throughout the airport, an extensive art collection includes some of the finest contemporary work in sculpture, glass, painting, photography and sound. The region's diversity is well represented through Northwest Native American, European, Asian and folk art influences.

Ground transportation can be arranged in the Baggage Claim areas. Options include shared ride vans, scheduled Airporters, shuttle buses, rental cars and taxis.

A free cell phone lot is located on Air Cargo Road, just a two-minute drive from Baggage Claim. Drivers can wait in the lot until arriving passengers have deplaned, collected luggage and called to be picked up outside of Baggage Claim.

Top Travel Tips

  • If you’re into bicycling, this is your city. Seattle has approximately 28 miles of bike/pedestrian shared paths, 22 miles of on-street striped bike lanes and about 90 miles of signed bike routes.
  • Watch your step! Jaywalking is taken seriously in Seattle, with citations routinely issued to violators. The Pike Place Market is the only place where jaywalking is legal.
  • Hop a ferry to soak in the shoreline and skyline. Seattle has a total of 200.90 miles of shoreline, consisting of 147.52 miles of fresh water and 53.38 miles of salt water.
  • Sip and savor Seattle’s finest. You’ll perk up in this city that’s the undisputed espresso capital of America, leading the gourmet coffee trend with espresso carts and coffee shops literally everywhere.
  • While Seattle does see an average of 37 inches of rain annually, it ranks 44th in a listing of U.S. cities by rainfall amounts. You'll notice that many Seattleites don't even use umbrellas. After awhile, the drizzle seems insignificant.
  • The best way to prepare for Seattle weather is to layer. With its hilly terrain's infamous "convergence zones", Seattle is unpredictable enough that you never know when a rain storm, a dry spell or a sudden drop in temperature might occur.
  • Rise above it all on the O Deck of Seattle’s landmark Space Needle. The lofty 360 degree panorama spans across snowcapped Mt. Rainier, the Cascade Mountains, the majestic Olympics, Lake Union and Elliott Bay. For a real treat, the Needle’s restaurant actually rotates so you can soak in the views as you dine!

Fast Factoids

  • The term "skid road" originated in Seattle’s historic Pioneer Square district when loggers built wood skids to transport cut logs from the top of Yesler Way down to the waterfront. It was the dividing line between the "respectable" downtown and the unsavory area to the south.
  • Built in 1914, the historic 42-story Smith Tower was once the tallest building west of the Mississippi. Now dwarfed by the 76-story Columbia Seafirst Center, it has the only human-operated elevators remaining on the West Coast.
  • The retractable roof of SAFECO Field, home to the Seattle Mariners, consists of three panels covering 8.75 acres. It would take 54,400 umbrellas to cover the same area as the stadium roof.
  • Dating back to 1907, Seattle’s nine-block Pike Place Market is one of the oldest continuously-operated farmers markets in the U.S.
  • Seattle and Washington State are among the leaders in the hand-crafted beer revival. The state’s premium wine production ranks second in the U.S. (behind California).
  • Home to nearly 300 animal species and over 1,000 plant species, Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo is the oldest zoo on the west coast and one of the oldest in the nation.
  • Check out the Fremont neighborhood for some of Seattle’s most unusual displays of public art. The collection includes a giant VW Bug-eating troll, a 53-foot rocket complete with neon lasers and an authentic statue of Vladimir Lenin.

Seattle travel to Hawaii is also easy to arrange. And Hawaii vacation packages make your fun in the sun getaway even more affordable.
